Summer Cooling Program Begins

Washington-Morgan Community Action announces the start of the Summer Cooling. The program provides assistance to eligible families to offset high electricity costs associated with the summer cooling season.

Room air conditioners will also be available for eligible applicants. To qualify for a room air conditioner the applicant must provide a medical statement that certifies there is a member of the household with a respiratory disease or breathing problem.

Applicants that do not qualify for air conditioners may receive assistance with their electric bills. A disconnect notice is required unless there is a household member 60 years of age or older, in which case the current bill can be paid. The maximum assistance is $175 per household.

All applicants must have household income at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines according to household size.

For more information call the Washington County office at (740) 373-3745 and call the Morgan County office at (740) 962-3827.
