Peoples Bank Receives Community Partnership Award
Peoples Bank was recently honored with a Community Partnership Award at the Community Action Partnership 2004 Annual Convention in Washington, DC. Peoples Bank was recognized for outstanding contributions in free banking services, low interest rate loans, homebuyer education and assistance programs, and other contributions.
Washington-Morgan
Community Action
owes much of
its successes
to its thirty-
year partnership
with Peoples
Bank. Peoples
Bank has supported
the organization’s
initiatives
by providing
free savings
accounts to
low-income
families and
access to low-interest
rates. The
low-interest
rates have
allowed Washington-Morgan
Community Action
to develop
much needed
low-income
housing throughout
the community
as well as
keep monthly
rents below
the average
in the community.
When
Washington-Morgan
Community Action
wished to provide
homebuyer education,
Peoples Bank
provided individuals
who taught
budgeting and
were there
to discuss
the process
and responsibilities
involved in
home ownership.
Peoples Bank
also acquired
Federal Home
Bank resources
in order to
provide their
own loan products
to assist low
and moderate-income
families purchase
a home. And
in testament
to a true partnership,
Peoples Bank
donated a building
to Washington-Morgan
Community Action
so that they
could expand
their operations
and provide
clients with
a new, professional
looking facility.
Peoples Bank was one of only three honorees at the national gala event celebrating Community Action's 40 years of service to low and moderate-income families. One of over 1,100 Community Action agencies nationwide, the Community Action Program of Washington-Morgan Counties (Ohio) nominated Peoples Bank to receive the award for its 30-year partnership to support low-income families in its market areas.
