Washington-Morgan Community Action’s Senior Nutrition Program trucks lined up to be loaded for another day of meal deliveries to seniors.
WMCAP Senior Nutrition Program
Receives Grant for New Truck

Washington-Morgan Community Action’s Senior Nutrition Program is a recent recipient of the Meals on Wheels Association of America’s (MOWAA) WalMart Impact Grant for the full $15,000. Thousands of MOWAA organizations across the nation applied for this competitive award in order to fulfill the purpose of the Impact grant: to help MOWAA organizations update equipment or expand. The money received by Washington-Morgan CAP will purchase a new meal delivery truck that has temperature controlled areas to store food for the Home Delivered Meals program. This truck will replace one that is out of service. With better temperature control, the food will be safer for the seniors who are receiving these services.

Since 1972, the Senior Nutrition Program at Washington-Morgan Community Action has provided hot, nutritious meals to citizens 60 years of age or older living in Washington and Morgan Counties. Program service settings include congregate and home delivered meals, depending upon the individual’s need. The program is also funded for nutrition education.

All meals in Washington County are prepared in Washington-Morgan Community Action’s kitchen, which is located in the lower level of the O’Neill Senior Center in Marietta. The meals for Morgan County are made at the kitchen in the Reiker Building in McConnelsville. Home delivered meal routes are located throughout Washington and Morgan Counties. Participants receive home delivered meals in the following areas: Marietta, Reno, Devola, Lower Salem, Whipple, Lowell, Beverly, Waterford, Newport, New Matamoras, Belpre, Barlow, Bartlett, Cutler, Little Hocking, McConnelsville, Malta, Stockport and the smaller surrounding areas.
