Washington-Morgan Community Action to host USDA Summer Food Service Program for Children The Washington Morgan County Community Action Program announces the sponsorship of the USDA Summer Food Service Program for Children. Free meals will be made available to all children 18 years of age and under or persons over 18 who are determined to be medically or physically disabled by a state or local public educational agency. For a growing number of children, school lunch and breakfast have become principal meals of the day. During the summer months, these meals are not available and children go hungry. Studies show that children who do not receive proper nutrition over summer months begin school six months behind their peers. The summer nutrition program is an important component of school readiness and an outlet for socialization over the summer for children who are not part of any other structured summer programming. The program will start June 21 and last till August 12. Reservations for the meals need to be made the day before by contacting the site. Free, hot meals will be served Monday through Friday at noon at the following sites: Old New Matamoras Elementary School 1000 Stover Dr. New Matamoras, OH Reservation Number: (740) 373-3455 Morgan Metropolitan Housing Authority 4580 Ohio 376 McConnelsville, OH Reservation Number: (740) 962-3827 Malta United Methodist Church (in the annex) 390 N.
